Ragnarrok! Dragon Rampant

Im in a period of my life that is quite new to me, lacking the desire to create a new army of miniatures. Ive been inspired by the Cromarty Forge Norse figures to do a Dragon Ramapnt tournament wHer are some of the units in progress

It's been so long since I have been able to do a post, finally painted after three years, the hurley club, im fielding the club armed nymphs for Dragon Rampant as Light infantry with short range misslies.

Turning out at the Red Lion

These pictures are of my Pixie/Gnome army one of the largest I have fielded.  The scenario was based on their shrine being seized by the Evil dead while they were celebrating in the local Red Lion.  The angry little folk spilled out from the pub foregoing any invisibility thus my force remained under 36 points. I backed them up with a wizardling mounted on a unicorn, the Lady of the Woods, who warned them of the impending doom.  Finally I added a Lute playing bard , classed as a cleric to command my lucky unit of "Pixies and other scum" .

The Evil Dead are Raised!

The fighting was brutal for the Undead and the only units holding the Pixies were skeleton heavy infantry formed up in wall of spears.  The Zombies were cut down by Gnomish firepower or the dreaded pixies.  After trouncing three units of undead the pixies were blown, then battered by a lightning strike and finally overrun.  The  Lady of the Woods did manage three consecutive heal thee spells on the Pixies.  However Pixie scouts in the roof of the Red Lion failed to get a shooting activation on the Necromancer.

A great battle with some very funny moments.  Most of my Dragon Rampant armies are based for a woodland theme.  Goblins, wood elves, woodland monsters and heroes.

Men of the North

A dragon Rampant battle the mushrooms were to be carried off by the protagonists. A battle fought and Willie's garage.   The Men of the North faced my gnomes and Pixies.  Such worthy opponents but so hard for them to reach down and kill me.  figures are all Alan Cs.  My battleplan was not to touch the toadstools with a barge pole but to spend by time shooting up the opposition, nearly worked.

A Bridge Too Far

Alan was commuting back over the pond and as his farewell battle I thought up this little Scenario.  Livi's Undead (Paras) had be raised (parachuted in) behind the Dwarven Bridge Guards.   The White orcs of the North and the Men of the North had to clear the way (British Armour up a narrow road) to save the Undead.  Each had a bridge to cross.  Willie had the Dwarves out numbered 2:1 in points.  with two bridges he was stretched out.  However his Dwarven Hero proved to be my undoing fighting off six attacks over the bridge. The Dwarves lived up to their ethnically challenged reputation and gave my Orcs a right doing.  Jp had the Back fortress line with an army of the West, he had one bridge to cross to get at the Undead and the help of two towers counting as light archers (flak towers)  and fields of toadstools where no undead could be raised (and anti glider obstacles) on his side of the river.

I tested this with buildings but there was no way to shift the Dwarves or other tough fighters so no Arnhem

there are some great figures I think from Copplestones Alan used as his Men Of the North.  his archers fielded as Heavy Archers had some great shooting while his warband soaked up the Dwarven attention

A victory for the good guys.  Maybe next time I will try an accent I got one spell to work in the entire game!
